While surfing the internet I came across ‘the rule of three’ for styling a bench in the hallway. Of course, you don’t have to follow all the rules and certainly not with styling, but if you don’t know it for a while it can be very useful. At least you have a base. Then you can supplement, deviate and add as much as you want.

What’s that three rule?
Well, with the well-styled benches, there’s a pattern to recognize.
1. There is always something on the bench
2. There is always something on the wall above the bench and
3. There is always something on the ground below or next to the bench.

It can be as simple as that.

In addition to these three rules, it is also important to work with different heights. Then it becomes much more exciting and playful!

An example
Hang a large item on the wall like a mirror or a large painting. For example, make a pile of about five books and place them on the bench with either a small plant or a plant that rises above the books. Under the bench you put something low. They may be some shoes, but a rug also counts as decoration.
